Mr. Daniel Hutchins

Mr. J. Daniel Hutchins, MEd, Principal
Mr. Hutchins has an impressive and diverse background in education, marked by his extensive experience and varied roles. He began his career in education at Immanuel Christian School in El Paso, TX, where he wore multiple hats as a high school science teacher, coach, and Vice-Principal. Prior to this, he spent a decade touring as a minister and professional musician, which likely enriched his approach to education with a unique perspective on leadership and communication.
Over the next 11 years, Mr. Hutchins expanded his roles to include athletic director and head coach for multiple sports, as well as teaching a broad range of subjects, including music, strength and conditioning, philosophy, theater, and social studies. His versatility in both academic and extracurricular areas highlights his commitment to providing a well-rounded educational experience for his students.
In 2016, he transitioned to a role as Assistant Principal at Friona Junior High, where he served for three years. His career continued to evolve as he took on the role of K-12 Principal at Midway ISD-Henrietta, gaining valuable experience across all educational levels and overseeing curriculum, instruction, and federal programs.
Since 2023, Mr. Hutchins has been serving as the principal at KCHS within the KCISD family, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership.
Mr. Hutchins holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from West Texas State University and a Master of Educational Leadership in Administration from Lamar University. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys a range of hobbies, including recording and performing music, woodworking, lifting weights, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. He and his wife Darla are proud parents of three children and one grandchild.
